Final layout for mounting of my first final piece for Stage 2 Visual Arts.

Artist Statement for Exhibition:
This piece was inspired by the mysterious nature of alleyways and back streets. These dark spaces make us feel uncomfortable yet are strangely alluring to many people, including myself. In Urban Threads I wanted to demonstrate how the urban environment can envelop its surroundings, like a monster. After documenting some alleyways in the Adelaide cental business district, I began the first of the three pieces in the set. A photo was transferred onto cotton blend using t-shirt transfers. I sewed into the image, reinforcing lines and graffiti with thread. The second piece follows this trend, with hanging thread acting as graffiti on top of a charcoal and pitt pencil drawing. The final piece is an image of an alleyway I photographed, I then used watercolour paint to accentuate parts of the image.
